I like my bedtime books to be quiet and sedate. But if you like to add some laughs to your nighttime routine, you won’t want to miss these hilariously fun bedtime books. Your kids will giggle, cuddle, and (hopefully) yawn by the end. I hope you find some new bedtime winners on this list. (And for a list of quieter bedtime books, click here.)

Bedtime Books with a Big Dose of Fun

Rock-A-Bye Romp by Linda Ashman–This book is a fun take on the nonsense song, “Rock-a-Bye Baby.” Baby has all sorts of adventures when he falls out of his cradle in the tree. Is that really where baby should be? I love Rock-A-Bye Romp’s answer.

Charlotte Jane Battles Bedtime by Myra Wolfe–Charlotte Jane has “formidable oomph” and a hilarious pirate family. But she just doesn’t want to go to bed. So, one night, she doesn’t. But, oh no, she’s lost her “oomph.” And it seems the only way to get it back is, you guessed it, to sleep… and dream.

Chengdu Could Not, Would Not Fall Asleep by Barney Saltsberg–Chengdu really does want to fall asleep, but he just can’t get comfortable. Well, he does find one thing that works and will have your kids giggling. Especially if they ever have to share a bed.

10 Little Ninjas by Miranda Paul–Is a rowdy bedtime romp to the beat of “10 Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed.” Ten kids try to sneak out of bed imagining themselves as everything from ninjas to astronauts until finally mom and dad get everyone back in bed. This should be a hit, especially for large families.

I’d love to hear about your family’s favorite fun bedtime book!
