I’m a huge fan of sites like Librivox, because, let’s face it, audio books are expensive, right?
Wrong!
I recently heard about deals on kid’s audio books within Amazon’s Audible bookstore, and I was amazed at what I found. I think you will be too. I found 50 audio books that you can buy for $3 or less! And they are good books! (Be sure to check the prices as they may have changed)
The best things about getting books on Audible rather than somewhere like Librivox are 1) better quality and 2) better narrators (with some exceptions).
Audiobooks for Young Children (under $3): These books would be especially great if you own the picture book version. Your child will be able to look at the pictures while they listen.

The above prices were accurate at the time I wrote this post. Amazon does change prices from time to time, so you may find some differences.
If you find another great audio book deal for kids, I’d love to hear about it!
I’m sure you’ve heard of it (and maybe already mentioned it!) but http://www.storynory.com has lots of (free) audiobooks for kids. They are read with a British accent. My kids have enjoyed the fairytales.
Yes! I remember downloading Alice in Wonderland from them when the kids were little! But I haven’t checked them out recently, so I’m sure they have much more now! I remember that reader has a lovely voice!
Oh this is awesome! Saving this list and gonna have to try a few of these out to see if Baby H likes audiobooks as much as I do.
I hope you find a few winners on this list! Happy listening and thanks for stopping by! 🙂
I have never thought of using audio books for my children, but what an awesome idea! Thank you for giving us this list.
My kids (and I) LOVE audiobooks! My 10-year old had a major room cleaning project this weekend and she listened to the whole first book of Anne of Green Gables! 🙂 Enjoy the list!
Audio books are great for kids. We used to listen to lots more when my kids were younger- in the car especially. We don’t have as much opportunity to listen now, but I still love audio books. 🙂
Thank you for sharing these.
Yes, the car is a great place for audio books (especially on road trips)! I’ve found that my older kids really enjoy listening to audiobooks in their rooms now that I’ve put the Audible and Librivox apps on our old phones for them. It’s much more manageable than keeping track of CDs! 🙂
Wow, what a collection! Thanks so much for sharing these with the #KidLitBlogHop!
Sure! I always appreciate the chance to share at the #KidLitBlogHop 🙂
